The UCI ANTrepreneur Center has partnered with UCI Law’s Startup and Small Business Clinic. SSBC was founded in 2018 to provide access to legal information for entrepreneurs and small business owners in the Orange County area. Under the supervision of SSBC Director Daniel J. Alexander II, UCI Law students tackle a variety of legal issues related to start-ups and small businesses, including issues related to business formation, contract negotiations, employment, and more. .

“We are excited to work with SSBC to expand the vital resources we provide to UCI student entrepreneurs,” said Ryan Foland, Director of the ANTrepreneur Center. “This partnership will enable us to provide free legal assistance and support that our students may not have access to as early-stage entrepreneurs. We are confident that we are building a solid foundation.”

Alexander also highlights the value that legal aid provides to student entrepreneurs.

“Founders often focus on raising capital, developing products, and marketing their business, so they may not prioritize running the business and the legal requirements that come with being an employer. If not properly addressed, the company and its founders could be severely held accountable and have their wings clipped before the business can take off. We want to prevent this by building a pipeline that allows us to work with a wide variety of clients and that this partnership will also give SSBC Associates exposure to the dynamic start-ups being created here on campus. Beginning the first week of the Fall 2022 term, students will have the opportunity to attend Legal Office Hours at the ANTrepreneur Center on Mondays from 3:00pm to 4:00pm and Fridays from 12:00pm to 3:00pm. Students can also schedule her one-on-one meetings with Alexander or his SSBC Associate from her CampusGroups page in the ANTrepreneur Center.
